‘Tis the Season

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

You’ve bought your season’s pass, gone to the ski swap sales, got your gear ready to go – but are you ready for the slopes?  Now’s the time to shake up your workout routine to prep for ski season.  Increase your stamina and reduce your risk of injury by:

  •  Increasing your cardio.  Mix it up with different activities and increase the frequency and duration of cardio in the weeks prior to ski season.  Build your endurance and you’ll enjoy your day a lot more!
  • Focusing on legs.  Work now to increase leg strength and reduce fatigue and risk of injury during the season.  Rev up the intensity of your strength workouts focusing on your quads, hamstrings, glutes, inner/outer thighs and calves.
  • Remembering your core.  Skiing can take its toll on your abs and back.  So incorporate exercises to protect your spine and build strength in your abs and lats.
